BIO
After high school, he attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis on Drawing and Painting in 1992. He then moved to the Los Angeles area to attend graduate school.
In California, he attended graduate school at the University of Southern California. He received his Master of Fine Arts Degree from USC in 1995. He is currently a full-time tenured professor in the Art Department at Cypress College, in Orange County, California. He lives in Long Beach, California with his two children Shoshana and Irit.
Paiement has shown widely in solo and group shows in New York, Norway, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, England, France, Austria, Japan, Chicago, and Southern California, including The Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach, CA; The Centré d’Art Contemporain, Pont-Aven, France; The Center for International Culture, Milan, Italy; The Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena, CA; and the Oxford Castle, Oxford, England.
His work was recently featured in “Collezionando” at Polo Museale Diocesano di Gubbio in Umbria, Italy. Additional notable group shows include Sea Change at Marx/Zavattero, San Francisco, CA;” 6018 Wilshire” at Edward Cella Art & Architecture, Los Angeles, CA; the international traveling exhibition “Animal House” in England and Italy; and in Cyborg Manifesto or The Joy of Artifice at the Laguna Art Museum. In addition, his work has been prominantly featured in the traveling museum exhibition “Tools As Art: Work from the Hechinger Collection.” This exhibition has been consistantly touring museum’s around the United States since 2006.
Paiement’s work has been featured in several publications including Art in America, Artillary, ARTnews, Artscene, Modern Painters, Artforum, The Los Angeles Times, Art in America, ARTnews, Artscene, Modern Painters, Artforum, The Los Angeles Times, The Orange County Register, Statement, Artweek, SF Weekly, and the New Art Examiner. The book Hybrids 1.0 – 3.5 was published by Laguna Wilderness Press in association with Paiement’s solo exhibition at the Laguna Art Museum in 2005 and received a design award from Communication Arts International. He is represented in Europe by Adelinda Allegretti (Rome, Italy).
